Reviving Tradition Through Modern Design: Taiyuan Nord Yichenyunzhu

Shanghai D&P Design Co., Ltd. Transforms Traditional Culture into Contemporary Design Language

Shanghai D&P Design Co., Ltd. has created a unique blend of traditional and modern aesthetics in their latest project, Taiyuan Nord Yichenyunzhu. This sales office, located in Taiyuan, a historical area with a thousand years of culture and civilization, is a testament to the power of design in bridging the gap between the past and the present.

The design inspiration for Taiyuan Nord Yichenyunzhu came from the principle of environmental unity. The designers sought to create a connection between the architectural space and the urban area of Taiyuan, incorporating different scene design contexts. The project covers a total of 1158 square meters and is a modern interpretation of the local ancient Jinci style. The curved surface elements of the temple hall are extracted and transformed into contemporary design language, embedded into the interior design space.

The unique properties of this design lie in its ability to break the shackles of traditional commercial space. The designers applied modern design thinking to extract the humanistic intentions and charms behind tradition, carrying out a brand new deconstruction and reorganization for architecture, landscape, and interior. The result is a space that is modern, elegant, simple, and infused with oriental aesthetics.

The realization of this design is a testament to the skill and creativity of the design team. Upon entering the sales office, visitors are greeted by an art hall composed of handmade marble and countless crystal rough decorations. A waterfall-shaped crystal chandelier set against a golden background decoration frame presents the artistic conception of the oriental landscape, instantly capturing the attention of visitors.

The design also features a chatting room, a space where guests can sit, show the corporate etiquette culture, and have a pleasant talk. A six-meter-high book shelf and waterfall are designed from the top down in the area, adding a touch of bibliophilism to the modern space with contemporary, restrained Oriental aesthetic atmosphere.

The project started in August 2019 in Taiyuan and finished in October 2019. The design team faced several challenges, one of which was the sand table, the most important display area of the entire sales department. The light fixture above the sand table uses crystal particles as material to highlight the spirit of modern craftsmanship, while its shape is the deconstruction and reconstruction of traditional architecture.

The design of Taiyuan Nord Yichenyunzhu is a testament to the power of design in bridging the gap between the past and the present. It is a celebration of traditional culture, transformed into a contemporary design language that resonates with modern audiences. This project was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to the creativity and skill of the design team at Shanghai D&P Design Co., Ltd.
